PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN BAHASA INGGRIS DALAM MENGHADAPI DUNIA KERJA DI SMK BHAKTI PUTRA BANGSA PURWOREJO

Abstract

English has gained strength as the main language in business. It is used as a benchmark for the fundamental conditions that determine job success. One of the reasons why English is becoming so relevant in the world of work is because companies are less and less local and increasingly global. English is able to mentally prepare students to face the world of work in the future. More importantly, English is used for career development which is much needed in various fields. Lack of students' knowledge of English has a significant impact on communication patterns in the use of English. The target and achievement to be achieved from this community service is to increase knowledge and skills in English to face the world of work. The method used in this community service is to use a pre-test to find out basic knowledge of English. Furthermore, an intervention was held about communication in English. Finally, a post-test was held to measure the results of the counseling. In this community service activity carried out in several stages, they are: Planning, Action, Observation and evaluation and reflection. From the results of the stages of the activity, it can be seen that there was an increasing of understanding after education, this is: an increasing of understanding from 25% to 60%. The results of the achievement according to the comparison of filling out the questionnaire before and after the counseling, which shows a positive change and a significant increase in each indicator, so it can be concluded that the education program on the use of English at Vocational High School Bhakti Putra Bangsa has succeeded in increasing the quality of knowledge and understanding.
