Abstract

ACT
The pace of development of digital technology has fundamentally changed
the landscape of child development, presenting significant new challenges and
opportunities for every individual and social institution. This phenomenon
inherently places a new urgency on the role of parents as primary educators and
mentors in the family. This research is here to analyze in depth the crucial role of
parenting, especially authoritative parenting, as an essential mediating variable in
mediating the impact of technology and shaping children's character integrity in the
digital era. The main objective is to identify how intentional parenting interventions
can foster the core values necessary for children to not only be able to adapt, but
also thrive ethically and responsibly in a complex digital ecosystem.
Using a qualitative literature review approach, this study synthesizes
findings from various relevant scientific journals to build a comprehensive
conceptual framework. The findings of the study show that balanced parenting,
such as authoritative parenting, which combines warmth, control, and open
communication, as well as hybrid parenting that arises from situational adaptation,
is proven to be superior in equipping children with core values such as empathy,
honesty, and digital responsibility. These strategies effectively reduce the negative
risks of technology, such as addiction and cyberbullying, while maximizing its
positive benefits.
This study identified that the implementation of specific strategies, such as
building parental digital literacy, setting clear and consistent boundaries, and being
a credible role model, had a direct correlation with strengthening the integrity of
children's character. These results underscore the importance of transitioning from
conventional parenting to proactive and informed digital parenting. The report
concludes that the role of parents as agents of change cannot stand alone; The
success of character education in the digital age relies heavily on close collaboration
between families, schools, and communities to create a healthy, safe, and supportive
digital ecosystem that supports strong character development.
